On the runHey everyone! I am coming to you live from the
Kulturhuset in Stockholm, Sweden! I arrived yesterday afternoon after a crazy ride on the plane filled with crying babies. Slept well last night on am getting my tourism on all of today - hoping to go see
Romeo and Juliet in Swedish tonight! Will be sending photos when I get to a real computer - not a cybercafe computer.
Early things that strike me-
Unless going to far off places like Afghanistan or Myanmar, there is a lot of homogeniality in the world. Every corner has a Mcdonalds, 7-Eleven and Coca Cola sign. The same clothes are here and in the US. The same music. Almost everything. The people look different, which is nice. But english is everywhere. I almost wish it were harder for me to get around, understand things and be understood by others. It isn't an arrogant American thing to speak english, it is a necessity felt by many others, not just Americans. How else do German tourists interact here? What about the French?
Yep, all english! No need to take tourist photos either because I can get them online and insert my face anywhere I want.
Gotta run, time running out!
Shoot... Shooting... Shot... Will Shoot...Shoot: sorry for not blogging since last Wednesday. I have preparing for my trip abroad (Sweden, Finland, St. Petersburg and Paris). Will be blogging lots from the trip. I am staying with people - not hotels, so that'll be fun. I have never met these people in person. Don't you just love the new wave of personality, trust and friendship that blogging has brought to the Internet!?
Shooting: just took a walk to the drugstore to buy some stuff for my trip (mostly LifeSavers Gummies -mixed berry flavor- and Fruit Roll Ups -cherry). I live one block away from the Church Avenue stop on the
F train. The stop is actually along McDonald Ave. - a pretty wide street in this mostly quiet area. The train station itself is a nice big station, underground. Many movies have been shot here over the years. And today yet another one is being shot:
Molly Gunn, starring Brittany Murphy, Dakota Fanning, Donald Faison and Heather Locklear. It is great to see this happening - enough time has passed since 9-11. If I spot any of the celebs you can be sure I will blog about it.
Shot: A few years ago the subway scenes of
Devil's Advocate were also shot here. Keanu Reeves was beautiful as always and even smiled at my young sister.
Will Shoot: I hope to update my blog often while abroad. I just got a new toy which will help greatly in this effort: the
Logitech PocketDigital Camera. Quality isn't awesome and it is definitely not a "replacement" camera but it is nevertheless super cool, lightweight and fun to use! Today I got a credit card application in the mail and it had a mock-up of what the cards look like. I was fascinated, considering today's news regarding John Walker Lindh, to see that the sample name on the card is L. Walker. So here's a picture of that using my new camera:
Wish me a good trip!
